[edit] Culture

In the section about "culture" it states that "in Africa" the bird is considered to bring bad luck. This is a very general statement. Africa is a bug place with MANY different traditions and superstitions among thousands of different peoples. I live in Africa and I have never heard any legend or myth about the Verreaux owl. It should specify that "the Zulu people of South Africa" or "the Hausa-Fulani of Nigeria" consider the bird to bring bad luck. The general statement is quite misleading.
