Veronica Guerin was undoubtedly a fearless journalist, but with some years having passed now since her death it may be possible to repeat some of the sentiments of many people at the time which weren't said in public for fear of insulting her memory, namely: "What in the name of God did she expect? A box of chocolates? There are some people you do not mess with, especially if you've been shot by them already. Reckless and irrisponsible (considering she was a mother) is putting it mildly.

Finally someone stood up again the drug lords! I wish the same would happen in Switzerland!

May god bless you and keep you always veronica. the Drayton Family

Reckless?-No. Careless?-A big maybe. Guerin stood up for what she believed in when nobody else would and for that she should definitely be remembered. Her only flaw in my opinion was her approach: she got too close to her subjects and underestimated their capabilities. (A higher profile person like her would have been all the easier to track, sadly.)

[edit] Orla?

Is there any family relationship between Veronica Guerin and BBC journalist Orla Guerin? -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 12:28, August 8, 2005 (UTC)

I would think so, although I could be wrong. A good idea would be to put it on Orla's page, since it's voted for cleanup, it's likely to get a bit more attention - Gerbon689 18:09, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

No

[edit] yes they are related

[edit] Bizarre detail

Forgive my frankness, but it's a poor thing that her life and career can be summed up in little more than half a dozen sentences (with no mention of family, upbringing or interests outside journalism), yet we're given a bizarre detail like the model and colour of the car she was murdered in.

Please, I beg, somebody who knows her story well do a better job than this. This is the sort of entry people make jokes about. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.42.71.249 (talk • contribs) 01:24, 15 February 2007
