Talk:Verdun
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I propose to move Verdun-sur-Meuse to Verdun, and Verdun to Verdun (disambiguation). Verdun in north-eastern France is IMO the best known Verdun by far (World War I, for instance), and the -sur-Meuse suffix is hardly ever used in real life. Markussep 29 June 2005 06:17 (UTC)
Can we get a map showing its location?
What does "Verdun" = "Verodunum" mean? The *dunum = "town"... what does Vero mean? It is clearly a Celtic name, as famous Romans (ie, Romanized Gauls) had it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.143.68.244 (talk) 04:33, August 26, 2007 (UTC)
To answer my own question, according to these websites, it means "Over-Town", roughly "Up-town":

[edit] White space
Does anyone know how to fix all the white space in this article. I'm sure it's to do with the boxes down the right, but I'm not skilled enough to attempt it! Ged UK (talk) 11:13, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
