During the Renaissance, the city of Verona in northern Italy had a thriving tradition of painting. The best known painter from Verona in that period, Paolo Veronese, became one of the pre-eminent painters in Venice. Hence painters in Verona both influenced and were influenced by trends in the island republic. This category mainly collects painters active in Verona before the nineteenth century.
