Veppampattu

Veppampattu (or Veppempet), is a small town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu between Chennai and Arakkonam on the Chennai - Arakkonam railway line. It is a fast growing suburb of Chennai. It has a number of schools and colleges. Electric trains and NH4 road provide transportation to Chennai.

Veppampattu can be approached by Lucas-Thiruvallur High Road or Poonamalle High Road. Educational institutes and engineering colleges contributed to the development of Veppempet. The next railway station is Thirunidravoor, site of Engg College, Shriram Educational Trust, and Bhajrang Educational Trust. Veppampattu is located near Sriperambatur where an international airport is planned. Other plans include a bypass road from Tiruavallur to Avadi, with a proposal for an overbridge.

Sundarbabu nagar is a residential colony situated less than a kilometre from Veppampattu railway station in the South East side.The residents are mostly from railways and other government organaisations.In the year 1999, Shri Varasidhi Vetri Vinayagar temple was constructed and poojas are performed regularly.The Vinayagar deity is very beautiful and varaprasadhi.The annual day will be conducted every year in the month of December in addition to other festivals.

perumalpattu, a town about 2 km from Veppampattu, is known for lush green scenery and comparatively untouched flora. Shriram Educational Trust, which runs Engineering, Arts & Science, Polytechnic colleges, is located there.
