Venad Express

The Venad Express is a train which goes from Shoranur to Trivandrum. It is numbered train no. 6301 (Towards South, from Shoranur to Trivandrum) and 6302 (From Trivandrum to Shoranur). Venad links through one of the important places and middlemost part of Kerala including Trissur, Alwaye, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Kayankulam, Kollam and Trivandrum. It is a day-time intercity service, departing Trivandrum Central Station daily at 5 a.m. and reaching Shoranur Junction station at 12.45 p.m. It undergoes a reversal of direction at Ernakulam Junction station. While returning, it departs Shoranur Junction station at 14.30 (2.30 p.m.) and arrives at Trivandrum Central Station at 22.10 (10.10 p.m.).
It is a very popular commuter train, used by daily office goers between different places. Even otherwise, the train is generally full most of the days, including holidays. Advance reservation is available only in a few compartments, a 2nd Class Ordinary compartment and an AC Chair Car. Other coaches can be boarded with an unreserved ticket. Generally there are standing passengers most of the way. The rush generally reduces after Thrissur while going to Shoranur, and after Kayamkulam, while going southwards.
