[edit] YPT
Someone added the following on YPT: "must be re-certified every three years." Can we have a citation for this? I have yet to see anything in writing specifying how often one must retake YPT. I've heard 2 years tossed out. All I ever see is you must have 'current' certification, but no definition (ie years) for that. --Emb021 16:58, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- I added the three years: I took the online certification and the certificate shows three years. Darned if I can find a specific reference online (although it passes [Google test]). I'll look for a real reference. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 18:28, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting. I've done the online cert several times and never seen a 3 year experation. My frequent requests for written policy on how often YPT must be done as always been ignored (or unanswered). --Emb021 16:09, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- I can't find anything at home. I have a Wood Badge Staff conference tomorrow: I'll check with our DE. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 17:09, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- Per Ask Andy there is nothing in writing. I'm going to change it to "per local council policy" until we can come up with something better. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 15:28, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] History?
Where did the history portion of this page go? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jfulkerson (talk • contribs)
See the history link on the infobox at the top. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 10:44, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- How about a summary history para on just venturing with a main link to the history article? Rlevse 12:00, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Explorer Scouts?
Is this the same as the old Explorer Scouts? --Purpleslog 15:37, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
Venturing is a spin-off of Exploring. See the Venturing section in History of the Boy Scouts of America. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 18:40, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- I view modern day Venturing as the direct descendant of the old high adventure Exploring posts.Rlevse 20:45, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Canadian Venturers
I edited the canadian section to be more complete, however I did not include anything related to badges. I will add that in soon. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Demonix (talk • contribs) 13:42, 15 February 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Membership policies
Is there a reason that accurate and verifiable membership requirements keep getting reverted out of this article? Membership is clearly within the focus of the article and these particular requirements are obviously imortant to the organization since the parent group has taken the issue to the Supreme Court to enforce them.207.69.137.10 11:51, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
- It's not that I disagree with the content; I reverted it because it doesn't belong in this part of the article. Additionally, there is already an entire article on the subject elsewhere. Your addition only serves to, IMO, disrupt the article. Justinm1978 14:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

- At least you have finally recognized that this is a National Council issue; the Venturing Division has never been to court over this or any other issue. Trying to replicate and maintain this over the parent BSA article, the six membership articles and the controversies article simply makes no sense. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 14:21, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] History
I don't think that having a link (in a smaller font) in a navbox on the right, to History of the Boy Scouts of America, is adequate. There really should be a brief summary of the history of Venturing in this article (see WP:SS), with a link (as the "main article") to History of the Boy Scouts of America#Venturing (preceded by Exploring). -- John Broughton (♫♫) 21:15, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- Like the Origins section in Boy Scouts of America, Cub Scouting (Boy Scouts of America) and Varsity Scouting (Boy Scouts of America), as recommended by WP:SCOUTMOS? We are working the main BSA article now and then moving along the series. If you ant to get started here, go for it. --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 21:24, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
