[edit] News article about mass character deletion

Interesting: http://www.mmorpgdot.com/index.php?hsaction=10077&newsid=44413 - Stoph 06:51, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

  • It's just a reprint of the News from the official site ([1]). Yes, the devs made a mistake. This is, however, the first time that anything of this sort has happened since the game opened up for pre-alpha testing in mid-2002. --Roguelazer 04:16, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

Maybe this is typical of minor video game articles on Wikipedia, but this article amounts to little other than an advertisement for the game. After being a public product for 2 years, this game still is fraught with annoying problems with the user interface. Conversely, this article doesn't really mention any of the cool things about the game either, like the designers' bravery in designing a game with somewhat realistic (and therefore unfamiliar) space flight. Similarly, the WGAF article is also very bad. From WGAF, quote: "WGAF also has unique network code. All data is sent over UDP instead of TCP, allowing for packets to arrive out-of-sequence..." This is an incredibly uninformed statement. No commercial game uses TCP to send time-critical info to clients, they ALL use UDP.

[edit] The feature list

There. Now you have some information on the different aspects of the game, at least. Advertisement it might be still, but it is also true. - Ayjona - 18:34, 5 Nov 2006 (GMT+1)

I did a thorough cleanup of the page, since someone had added many points under the "Planned" section that really belonged to "Present", or had been mentioned before. Some items where moved, others deleted. The whole VO page here on Wikipedia had become rather confusing, what with features mentioned in the "Present" list also being mentioned under "Planned", and some features mentioned twice (such as player-controllable capital ships). Hope no one takes any kind of simulated or real offense at my editing ;-) - Ayjona - 01:47, 5 Sep 2007 (GMT+1)

[edit] Information Removed

I had found the detailed description of VO, including things like missions, quite interesting and useful, so I think removing so much material makes the article much less valuable, especially for someone who is not already immersed in that and similar games. Where does description end and advertising begin? szpak 15:16, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
