Veltoor

Veltoor often spelled as Velatoor, Velatur, Veltur etc is a village and Gram Panchayat in Uppununthala Mandal of Mahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh state in India. It is located just next to Dindi Dam, a tributary of Krishna River. It is exactly in between Hyderabad and Srisailam on the highway. The Nallamalla forests and famous Umamaheswaram Temple are just about 10 km and can be seen from this village and the nearest big town is Achampet.

The population of Veltoor is close to 5 thousand representing different social classes. It has an electricity substation and a rice mill on the outskirts. The main source of income is Agriculture. The main crops include rice, peanuts, castor, cotton and other fruits and vegetables. The High School in this village is very famous and has produced many engineers, officers, teachers, etc. so far. Major source of irrigation is from groundwater. Village has a mediaum size irrigation tank but rarely fed in the events of good rain fall. Village economy has boosted from the advent and proliferation of borewells. fare at the time of Ratha Saptami is famous festive event in the area.
