Vellottamparappu is a panchayat town in Erode district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

As of 2001 India census[1], Vellottamparappu had a population of 8129. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Vellottamparappu has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 52%. In Vellottamparappu, 8% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The village has a Government High School which has been achieving 100% result in the SSLC examination for the last couple of years. In 2007-08 SSLC, the first rank holder has secured 479 marks out of 500 which is a great achievement in this rural school.
It also has a beautiful Mariamman temple. The Kundam festival in Jan/ Feb month every year is very famous in that area.
The population mostly consists of farmers and agriculture labours who are dependent on the Kalingarayan canal. The main crops are turmeric, paddy, sugercane, maize, gingelly, etc., Though the yeild is good, the people are suffering mainly due to the lower prices for their products.
