Veliyam is a very beautiful village in Kerala. It is situated near Kottarakara in the Kollam district of Kerala.

Veliyam Bhargavan is a leading politician who was born and brought up in Veliyam Padinjatinkara. The famous film star Murali was born and brought up in this village at a place called Kudavattur. There are many more well known people from this village.

This village is gifted with temples,kaavu, paddy fields, rock hills and rivers makes it more beautiful. Paddy and Coconut were major cultivation here and is given way to Rubber as in most part of Kerala. This village have a very good percentage of literacy .Majority of the people are farmers. The famous temples in this village are Veliyam Temple, Subhramanya Swamy Temple, Palakkottu Temple. There are a lot more small temples in this village.
