Velcom and Privet are the trademarks of the second largest cell-phone operator in Belarus, Mobile Digital Communications (Russian: ИП "Велком"). Its headquarters are located in Minsk.
As of September 2007 Velcom has more than 2.77 million subscribers in Belarus.
Its current (As of September, 2007) license portfolio covers territory where 95% of Belarusian population reside.
Velcom was founded in 1999 and initially operated GSM-900 network in Minsk area.
Velcom is 70% owned by mobilkom Austria and 30% owned by Cypriot firm Samauwi Brothers (SB) Telecom.
Velcom's main competitor is Mobile TeleSystems.
