- You can create an article, if you feel the information you have is suitable for wikipedia. See the welcome page for more information, or you can speak to me via my talk page. Thanks! Ruaraidh-dobson 15:42, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Howdy. One thing you should know- we need information to be available from reputable sources. What you're talking about above sounds a bit like original research. Since this is an encyclopedia, not a primary or secondary source, we need information to first be published in a reliable source before it can be used here. Friday (talk) 16:05, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re William I / Pieter Velders
Hello,
No problem with adding stuff here, but you should consider a few things:
- Please read Wikipedia:Manual of Style, or at least glance through. Reading other articles will help to get some idea on how articles should look like. One big no-no is all-capital title...
- Please consider how your additions integrate to the rest of the articles. Talking about some random unrelated person, out of blue, is a bit unfitting considering the article. The addition to the William I article was a bit... shall we say, sidetracking.
- Don't be offended by the nonsense bit. I don't think it was patent nonsense as it's defined in WP ("patent nonsense" being garbage that no one can ever make any sense of, like as in if someone sat on keyboard or something), but the article was really... uh, let me put it this way: When you look at any article, it should tell the reader who this person is, what s/he did, and why should we care. If it fails to tell this, it will just confuse people. Sometimes, this is deletable due to lack of context.
- Please also consider the biographical guidelines. Some admins speedy-deleted this as a nonnotable biography, and I'm personally kind of leaning on that direction.
- You undoubtedly have sources; The silly thing is, they should be mentioned in the article. Even one lead would help. Has this person mentioned in a book? Well, just list them. =)
Anyway, don't be disappointed, quite a few people have rocky starts but turn out all right. Happy editing! =) --wwwwolf (barks/growls) 16:26, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
