[edit] Article Created

Split off the article from the main one. I'll be cleaning this one up like I did the Space Marine one. It'll take more time though, the IG have a TON of vehicles. :) Ugh... Shrumster 21:30, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup

Time to clean this baby up. Shrumster 15:10, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Word. --Saerko 17:00, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

"Stylistically, the Chimera and Leman Russ tracked vehicles resemble tanks in World War I and the interwar period. They have exposed treads, no apparent suspension system, and numerous independent weapons mounted in a mix of gun turrets and sponsons. However, they are both equipped with an auspex (a radar-like device). The Baneblade possesses a more modern design, with a chassis similar to those of modern main battle tanks. However, it retains anachronisms such as sponsons and a WW2-era turret design. The Baneblade is also equipped with an auspex. Several modelers have made their own variants, however, to incorporate suspension systems and remove the archaic weapons fixations."
Is this really necessary in the introduction? It seems like the above should be bundled into the Leman Russ and Baneblade sub-sections. I may excise it in favor of a more generalized introduction if no one objects. --Saerko 17:04, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Im not sure we need this either surely these would make sense in their respective sections--Erstedorf 23:32, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Moved the Malcador into the super-heavy vehicle section, and deleted the duplicate malcador and macharius entries under normal vehicles. --D97rolph 15:04, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Huh.

I noticed that GW certainly enjoyed giving these guys lots of demonic names.

The names arent Demonic, They are of mythical creatures "Demonic" names would defeat the point of the Imperial guard as a force's of order faction a slight amount--Erstedorf 23:32, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dawn of War screenshots

Is it really neccessary to use Dawn of War screenshots as images? Can't anyone use models that they have? I can see that it might breach copyright or whatever to use GW/Forge World images, but if that's the case, what makes Dawn of War exempt? Plus, DoW screenshots are both poor quality and misleading - WH40K is not a videogame, first and foremost. -- 86.130.79.114

Publicity shots from the online store count under fair use, as with most other publicity shots used by Games Workshop. Since all of the pieces are under the same copyright, taking pictures of your "own" falls under the same need for liscencing. Dawn of War screen shots fall under game screen shots, a slightly different liscence. Its nice to mix them up a bit to show the different games they are from. But yes, your own pictures are no more "free" than the online store publicity shots, so its always okay to mix them up. SanchiTachi 16:18, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Shame. Oh well, can't be helped I guess. -- 86.130.79.114

Unless you are a really good artist and you can hand draw them, but even then, you would have to put up a fair use liscence because you did a 2d sketch of a 3d copyrighted object. Its how GW keeps people from stealing their designs. :) SanchiTachi 18:10, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
Ha, at one point I might have taken you up on that. Been a long time since I obsessively and exclusively drew 40K pictures, unfortunately. -- 86.130.79.114
Hey, register a name. You could be useful to the project, or if you don't want to be useful, you could just have a flashy name to replace the 10 digits with. :) SanchiTachi 21:15, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
The DoW screenshots are there to show the vehicle in DoW. No more, no less. Shrumster 21:23, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chimera

Im removing the Chimeradon etc from the Chimera section as I am an experienced Guard player and have never encountered these, they personally sound like someone using VDR and adding them to the article, I have never heard of them mentioned in the Fiction either.

Just because you've never heard of them doesn't mean they don't exist. Try the first few iterations of Epic. They're all there. I even have old WDs that have the models as "new releases." Shrumster 19:44, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Ok could you cite the Article they are mention in for me to reference to.

Ok sorry about the signing, Ill check up on them --Erstedorf 17:06, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

No problem. I'll check my full copy of the Epic rules if I can expand the info on them as well. Makes me want to convert one of mine in 40k-scale. Shrumster 18:36, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hellhammer

We need to expand the info on the hellammer baneblade variant - if anyone haa the Apocalypse book could they please do something about it? Puretide 17:42, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Done and done. Also, it appears to be similar in function/purpose to the stormsword, if not quite as powerful. Should this be mentioned? 82.43.157.105 21:52, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stat tables

Please note that GW does not want it's vehicle stats posted on unofficial GW articles or websites unless written permission is expressed. I have deleted the stat tables -- please refrain from adding these stats again. 170.185.59.19 15:17, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
