[edit] Dravidian people
Friend, I kniow you mean well but as a newbie you may have some trouble understanding some wikipedial rules. If you need help, just ask me Taprobanus (talk) 17:10, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
So, what is the rule I dont understand???
I did look at it. But I reverted only because someone deleted it... How can I make sure that someone doesnt delete it....
- In future, you could propose changes on the talk page before changing the article. Also, have a look at WP:BRD.--Addhoc (talk) 17:27, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Other users removed what you added because they didn't agree that it belonged there. We work together and discuss changes we want to make, until we reach a version that we can all agree on. The talk page of each article is there for that purpose; when your block expires, don't restore your section to the article, but instead discuss it with other users on the talk page. Find out why they think it doesn't belong there, clearly explain why you think it does, and work together to find a solution. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:28, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Christopher nagar
A tag has been placed on Christopher nagar, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JohnCD (talk) 22:18, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Hi John, I am working on creating this "Christopher Nagar". I am collecting more information, pictures and :references...
- It's best to wait until you have a reasonable article before you actually put it into Wikipedia. You can create it in a word-processor - even Notepad is perfectly adequate - and use cut and paste to try it out in the sandbox and eventually put it in as an article. The problem is that, unfortunately, a great number of very short nonsense pages get put into Wikipedia by people who are just playing about, and these get speedy-deleted; so if you put your article in when it is only a beginning, it will probably go the same way. You can also put {{underconstruction}} at the top of the article, and that will protect it for a day or two. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 22:45, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
So, what will guarantee the approval of the article????
- There are no guarantees. The most important things are that an article must be about something notable, be supported by independent reliable sources, and be written from a neutral point of view. There is a lot of guidance available: useful places to start are the Five Pillars of Wikipedia and What Wikipedia is not; also the Guide to creating your first article. Follow links from there.
- Remember that once you have put something into Wikipedia, you don't own it; other people can edit it, and they probably will. Every edit page carries the warning: "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly ... by others, do not submit it."
- One last point: when you write something on a talk page, it is good manners to sign it by putting four tilde characters ~~~~ at the end. The system will automatically translate that into your username and the date and time - like this: JohnCD (talk) 14:26, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Indiaregions electricity.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Indiaregions electricity.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:06, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Reference needed "tag" for Indus Valley Civilization
Hello Vcpkumar. I noticed your recent edit (diff) to Indus Valley Civilization. You can use the {{fact}} tag for this function--it's better. See Template:Fact. Good luck and welcome to Wikipedia.--Mumia-w-18 (talk) 14:11, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Mumia-w-18. It was helpful. vcpk (talk) 18:00, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] IVC
as explained on the talk page, i "verified" that Witzel is a subject expert, and EJVS is regarded as a scholarly publication by university libraries. if u believe that there is still doubts about its credibility, why don't you ask for another opinion at WP:RS/N rather than simply reverting. Doldrums (talk) 05:47, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Witzel doesn't claim to be an expert on the strength of self-published material. he is a published and accredited scholar in the field. There are half a dozen others willing to put their names on the EJVS editorial board, many more have chosen to submit articles to the journal. the article in question has been cited by Krishnamurti as well as Southworth (2005), Linguistic Archaeology of South Asia (pp. 67). all this makes it very clear to me and to two other editors that this is a reliable source. if you chose to disagree, pls seek an independent opinion via a WP:3O or on the RS noticeboard rather than simply reverting. Doldrums (talk) 16:58, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

- It is being discussed at the indus valley civilisation talk page and I have answered there. vcpk (talk) 15:32, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 13:23, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
