Vault (parkour)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In parkour, vaults (French language: passements), help someone clear over railings, tables, walls, and platforms as efficient and as quickly as possible by jumping or leaping over these obstacles, putting weight onto the object with ones hand(s). Sometimes it is impractical to perform some of these vaults.
There are many different types of parkour vaults:
- Monkey vault : Two hands are placed on obstacles and both legs are pulled up in a squat position and practioner pulls himself/herself over.
- Lazy vault : One hand is used to swing both legs over an obstacle and the other to carry over.
- Speed vault [1]
- (King) kong vault : A dive motion but at tip of obstacle hands are used to push up and legs are put in a monkey position.
- Dash vault : The practioner jumps first and than places hand down to carry self over.
- Reverse vault (not to be confused with 360 side vault) [2]
- Pop vault [3]
- Turn vault [4]
- Two hand vault [5]
- Underbar [6]
- Tic tac vault [7]
- Kash vault [8]
- Barrel vault [9]
Uncommon or freestyle vaults which aren't used for escape, but for show...
