[edit] Core values
The core values section was not cited. I just provided a reference.[1] However, the article is just reproducing what is contained on the School's website. I will move the section to the talk page for discussion later, but first I wanted to raise this issue to give others an opportunity to respond. Spa toss 02:06, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- On second though, I'll just move the section here to see what the consensus is. (Remember, this was uncited until I found the reference...and now that I found it, I am concerned that it is simply parrotting the school's promotional creeds.) Spa toss 02:10, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
=== Core Values === According to their website,<ref>[http://schools.tdsb.on.ca/vaughanroad/corevalues.htm Vaughan Road Academy Core Values Statement]</ref> Vaughan Road Academy believes in:<br> *Fostering mutual respect and a belief in the dignity and worth of all people.<br> *Nurturing the intellectual, physical, and social potential of all students.<br> *Providing a caring, positive, and safe environment.<br> *Utilizing a disciplined approach that enables students to acquire the basic skill and knowledge to function productively in our information-based society.<br> *Providing a challenging curriculum that promotes the development of reflective, creative, and critical thinking skills.<br> *Providing students with the opportunity to learn both co-operatively and independently.<br> *Promoting involvement in the community by both students and staff.<br> *Enhancing the students' enthusiasm and commitment to life-long learning.
[edit] Notability
I cannot find much in the news about this school. It appears to be a non-notable school. I did find one thing about a former student who became somewhat notable: "The Roadrunners added a third point guard this week, signing Alex Johnson, who played for Vaughan Road Academy in Toronto."Newest recruit is 'best point guard in Canada' I don't know how to work this into the article, assuming it survives the afd. - I think I am beginning to understand your thought process. It seems that having alumni who are Nobel Prize winners, members of Parliament, and widely known actors, and having students who win international competitions in informatics and provincial competitions in theatre do not make a school notable, but having a young alumnus who plays college basketball makes a place notable. --orlady 13:46, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

- No. I don't think the school is notable. However, I offered a link in the interest of intellectual honesty. I will reread the article, though, and examine if notability has been established. Writing an article on the McDonalds at Waco Texas simply because both George Bush and David Koresh (two notable people) ate there frequently does not establish the notablity of the McDonalds at Waco Texas. Do you understnad now? On the other hand, if you have a source that says the school was a notable factor in the achievments of alumni, I would better see your point.
