Vatertag translates to Father's Day, but is not celebrated with any similarity to the traditional Western Father's Day. As late as the 1700's it was family holiday to honor one's father, but in the 19th century it re-appeared as a day for the lower class to goto bars and get drunk, and holds a bad reputation today.
