Vasilis Torosidis (Greek: Βασίλης Τοροσίδης; born 10 June 1985, in Petino, Xanthi, Greece) is a football wingback who currently plays for Olympiacos and Greece national football team. After spending 4 and a half seasons at Skoda Xanthi, he moved to Olympiakos in January 2007. His first ever goal at Super League was scored (Vasilis was contracted at Skoda Xanthi) against Iraklis Thessalonikis F.C. on October 17, 2005, his first goal with Olympiakos was scored against PAOK FC on January 21, 2007.
A hard wingback known for his exceptional physical strength, endurance and technic he has been an important part of the Greek national team and the Olympiakos team since joining the club. He has been monitored by Juventus, AS Monaco, Newcastle, Atleitico Madrid and others, Olympiakos will consider to sell at the right price such an important and versatile player.
On March 4, 2008 it was reported in the English media that he was a target for English side Newcastle.[1]
