[edit] Information
The picturesque village is well-served with restaurants and small shops ,hotels such as www.grandnefeli.com and the port supports ferries to nearby Ithaca and Cephalonia, making the town a minor centre for tourism.
Vasiliki Bay is reputed to offer excellent sailing conditions reliably from May through September and several companies take adavantage of this to offer sailing and windsurfing holidays. The strong cross-shore wind is said to result from the interaction of the prevailing wind and the sea breeze. Sometime in the afternoon, heating of the hills to the east of the Bay accelerates the gentle sea breeze, while turning it across the shore, creating a strong, steady breeze.
The Vasiliki Bay cross-shore breeze ranges between a strong breeze and a gale. The local sailing company, Wildwind, permits only experienced sailors to sail in the cross-shore, but it does encourage visits by advanced and expert sailors by offering the highest performance catamarans and dinghies, including Hobie Fox, Hobie Tiger, Hobie FX One, Hobie 16, 49er and the laser series.
The Bay is also home to Club Vassiliki, which claims to be Europe's largest and best equipped windsurfing centre.
[edit] Other
Vasiliki has a school, a lyceum (middle school), a secondary school (gymnasia), a church, banks and a square (plateia).
