Vasil Zlatarski was a Bulgarian historian. He was born in Veliko Tarnovo in 1866 and died in Sofia in 1935. He played a leading role in the development of Bulgarian national historiography in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was also involved in the establishment of the study of Bulgarian history at Sofia University.
