Varympompi

Varybombi (Greek: Βαρυμπόμπη) is a suburban community located about 20 km N of Athens via the nearest interchange (17th km) with GR-1/E75. Varympompi has 3 exits, at the 17th km, the 21st km and at around the 25th km to the north. Varympompi is part of the municipality of Acharnae (Acharnes). The suburban community is situated east of the Parnitha mountains. and the northern portion of the Athenian plain lies to the north. Varympompi's main street is Tatoiou and the other is linked directly with Kifissia Avenue and GR-83. Varympompi is located SE of Thiva, ESE of Chalkida, W of Marathon and NE of the Attiki Odos.

The village is situated between a farmland and a forest setting. The forests of parnitha mainly of pines, cedars and fir trees along with hiking routes lie to the west while farmlands are to the east. Suburban housing came in the 1980s and continues in the 2000s. Varympompi also has a small race track for practicing. The Olympic stadiums are within Varympompi.
The panorama includes the northeastern Attica mountains, the northern portion of the Athens metropolitan area and mount Penteli.
On August 5, 1998, the 1998 forest fires in Greece at 3 p.m. EET (EEST) (12 p.m. UTC/GMT) raged west of the superhighway and engulfed four factories in the area. The September 1999 earthquake affected some homes but caused minor damaged. Properties further north did not cause any damages in that earthquake.

Varympompi has a small school, a lyceum, a gymnasia (high school), a church, a small post office, and a square (plateia).
