Vartdal

Vartdal is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The administrative centre was the village Vartdal.
It was created by a split from Ulstein on 1 January 1895. The new municipality, which was called Vartdalstranden at that time, had a population of 736. The name was changed (shortened) to Vartdal in 1918.
On 1 January 1964 Vartdal was incorporated into its neighboring municipality to the south, Ørsta. Prior to the merger Vartdal had a population of 1.315.[1]
The village Vartdal, which for administrative purposes is named Sætre, currently has a population of 375. [2]
