[edit] Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Ehud Lesar

An Arbitration case involving you has been opened, and is located here. Please add any evidence you may wish the Arbitrators to consider to the evidence sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Ehud Lesar/Evidence. Please submit your evidence within one week, if possible. You may also contribute to the case on the workshop sub-page, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Ehud Lesar/Workshop.

On behalf of the Arbitration Committee, RlevseTalk 02:56, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi, could you please help me with the Turkish vandal "XMurat" constantly changing the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recognition_of_the_Armenian_Genocide

and the map: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:ArmenianGenocideRecognition.png

Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.158.196.73 (talk) 19:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I can confirm that OTRS has an email from the Content Manager of ArmeniaDiaspora.com giving permisson. --Golbez (talk) 04:05, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The term "Azerbaijani"

Do you know if there has been any extensive discussion on Wikipedia about the use/misuse of this word. It is my opinion that an "Azerbaijani" is a citizen of Azerbaijan. The republic of Azerbaijan did not exist before May 1918, so nobody prior to that date could be called an "Azerbaijani" (they would either be ethnic Tartars (or ethnic Azeri Tartars) or ethnic Armenians, and so on). And, furthermore, it could be argued that anybody who was a citizen of Azerbaijan after that date, even if they were Armenian or Georgian, could also legitimately be called an "Azerbaijani". [edit] Map

User:Steelmate recommended not showing the individual states and I just went along with his proposal. Whether we include them or not, I have no issue either way. You can bring this up on the "Recognition of the Armenian Genocide" article talk page. -- Aivazovsky (talk) 16:51, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Aram Andonian

Hello VartanM,

I have asked a question about Aram Andonian which received no answer, and the article still contains the line "[Aram Andonian] worked for the Young Turk government during World War I. Andonian served in the department of military censorship" which I have not read anywhere else... Is it correct ? Since he was arrested on April 24th, 1915 (according to Yves Ternon, Enquête sur la négation d'un génocide, amongst others), it is highly unrealistic (to say the least) that he was working fot the military censorship, or am I missing something ? I am sorry to bother you, but I thought that my question was too specific to flood the WikiProject Armenia and anyway you answer most questions there ;)) And you edited the article on Aram Andonian not long ago.

Best regards,

--Moumine70 (talk) 21:52, 10 February 2008 (UTC) (if you want to answer, it is better to do it on my French talk page...)

Ok, don't worry, this "information" has been in the article for such a long time that one or two weeks more will not make a big difference. Thank you and best regards, --Moumine70 (talk) 09:21, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Criticism

Hey! Why are you repeatedly changing my contributions (to the articles Armenian National Committee of America, David Mayer de Rothschild, and Bilderberg Group), and saying that I don't provide references and reliable sources? I have provided 5 sources on each of them, so don't try to cover up the truth! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.229.25.221 (talk) 01:37, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

I only reverted you once on the ANCA page because it was unsourced POV claim. VartanM (talk) 02:49, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] CfD on Category:Holocaust deniers

I'm afraid you can't do that. You can't just add an unrelated category to a CfD discussion. Imagine if it was an AfD discussion; someone nominated an article about soup for deletion then a few days later you added an article about football. That just wouldn't work. If you really want to nominate Holocaust deniers then you'll need to nominate it separately. Note however that the category survived a CfD discussion in April last year. Tonywalton Talk 23:08, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Canvassing

I suspect you meant to make the point to someone else, rather than me. I haven't nominated anything for deletion for quite some time now and didn't involve myself in canvassing when I did. Regards Tonywalton Talk 23:31, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Apology accepted. Tonywalton Talk 23:36, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Please check who you're talking to

Your last comment, starting "Dear Arsenic" was left on my talkpage. If you intend a message for someone, please check the "Editing whatever" header to make sure that you're editing that someone's talkpage. I know I too can screw up from time to time, but please don't do it repeatedly. Thanks. Tonywalton Talk 00:18, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] your thoughts pls

Hi, Grandmaster has asked me to perform a page move.[1] From a quick glace I can see consensus on the talk between Grandmaster and alidoostzadeh, but I notice that in that section you have rejected a merge request so perhaps you have an opinion on the rename proposal. Please let me know when you have time. John Vandenberg (talk) 08:16, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

I respect your work, and know how hard you try to be NPOV though at times to me seems very POV, but I have seen you do good NPOV work as well, so understand I am not here to "fight you" on every turf or article.

Please check my message at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Deliogul#slm. with regards to canvassing. Thanks and good day. talk § _Arsenic99_ 19:17, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Right "a little help" is biraz yardim, a little help in directing me to the right way to propose a CfD, it was my first time. I didn't say, a little help in voting on delete, as I told you there is nothing like that in the messages. Regardless, I'll be more careful and write it in English next time. I didn't propose to anyone to make a SPA account, that could be anyone or even someone who is a wikipedian but just never bothered to make an account, so please understand that you don't need to jump to conclusions. If I was trying to be low and dirty, I would bring in 200 people from my fraternities and organizations I know to make posts, and you would see a link to that page on many websites, but I am not trying to "cheat" my way, plus it's not about numbers, it's about the strength of the argument and I know my argument for deletion is simply flat out better than yours for keeping it. I'll understand if you disagree. talk § _Arsenic99_ 22:02, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Vartan, please check out the Hamshenis article and talk page when you get a chance. A Turkish user User:Omer182 is trying to erase the Armenian background of the Hamshenis. -- Aivazovsky (talk) 14:38, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Daniel Varujan

Barev! Isn't there a wiki-page abt Daniel Varujan (in English wikipedia, I created it in the Italian one)...? Is it possible? Bye! Amiens984 (talk) 20:10, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Riana's request for bureaucratship

Dear VartanM, thank you for taking part in my RfB. As you may know, it was not passed by bureaucrats.
I would, however, like to thank you for taking the time to voice your support, despite concerns cited by the opposition. Although RfA/B isn't really about a person, but more about the community, I was deeply touched and honoured by the outpouring of support and interest in the discussion. I can only hope that you don't feel your opinion was not considered enough - bureaucrats have to give everyone's thoughts weight.
I also hope that the results of this RfB lead to some change in the way we approach RfBs, and some thought about whether long-entrenched standards are a good thing in our growing and increasingly heterogenous community.
I remain eager to serve you as an administrator and as an editor. If at any point you see something problematic in my actions, please do not hesitate to call me out. ~ Riana 12:36, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Have I made a mistake?

It would appear in my short time here, I've angered the Wiki-"gods". http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Guenter_Lewy&diff=198296943&oldid=198218139

They've started with Guenter Lewy's position on the Armenian and Native American genocide and probably won't stop until they removed any and all persons/information involved. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guenter_Lewy Kansas Bear (talk) 04:52, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disrespectful comments targeting Armenians

Hi,

Sorry to take your time. I came across this edit [3] today in which the user is making some derogatory comments towards Armenia and some other countries that borders on racism, caliming that Armenia is a non-historical and weak entity. Of course such claims for me who have been fortunate enough to read about the history of Armenia from Tigranes the Great all the way to the Armenian Genocide is simply ludicrous. I think this is very unfortunate and believe this user should be given a strong warning to refrain from such behaviour in the future. Regards.Heja Helweda (talk) 22:30, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

I think this user is obsessed with me. I totally recognize the Armenian Genocide. I believe the small countries of the caucus are weak entities (relative to Iran) and they are played sometimes with bigger powers. The breakup of big countries is the aim of some groups in order to create smaller and controllable entities. There is no disrespect to any of these countries and I harbor no ill feelings to the average citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, even if once in a while there is discussion on history matters that I might not agree with some of the citizens of these countries. Sorry for any disrespect if there was any, but I believe the above user is just trying to create bad-will. --alidoostzadeh (talk) 03:11, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I, in my own minor way, will vouch for Ali. His statement, in no way, was meant to libel Armenians or Armenia. Kansas Bear (talk) 03:26, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks :) --alidoostzadeh (talk) 04:00, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

I have known Ali for quite sometime now and have outermost respect for him. Reading the 3 month old comment I don't see anything disrespectful or worthy of my attention. VartanM (talk) 05:07, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] wikisource needs you

Hi VartanM, we have two candidates for CU on Wikisource, and we need to accumulate 25 votes in favour in order to be approved. While I am one of the candidates, I dont mind whether you vote for or against me; this note is just to ensure that you know that as you are a serious contributor to Wikisource, and we dont have many, your input is desirable at this stage. [edit] Re:Barnstar

Hello VartanM, thanks for the barnstar! I was actually a little surprised considering I worked on it over a year ago. It still brightened my day, though. Again, thanks for the barnstar! --Crzycheetah 08:39, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Armenian script needed

Hi, at Goblet drum there's a list of names in various languages. In Armenian it's called toumbeg or tmpug or something similar. Is there an Armenian Wikipedia page for this drum? Also, can you find the standardized spelling in the Armenian alphabet and add it at Goblet drum? Thank you, Badagnani (talk) 21:55, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Also, is there Armenian script for Udi Hrant Kenkulian? Badagnani (talk) 23:05, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] RE:=

Thank you for informing me. I only assumed because I saw his comments in the Assyrian genocide talk page. Chaldean (talk) 23:24, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] On Bagh (word)

Dear VartanM, thank you for your contributions, both to the above-mentioned entry and the associated discussion. Incidentally, I have just reworked your addition to Bagh (word) — for some reason you had mistakenly copied one piece of the existing text and repeated it in the final part of the entry. With kind regards, --BF 03:33, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind message. --BF 03:36, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

It's a work in progress. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 03:36, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

looks good but I think we need to make it so that if we but Artsakh=yes when putting the WPAM template that the other template pops up but when it's not there the other template doesn't pop up. The way I've currently got it with this test template is that there is an if statement inside such that if we set Artsakh=yes then the Artsakh task force pops up inside the WPAM template I sort of copied how the WPMILHIST template works. I suppose the alternative is to have a completely separate template but this may generate more wikicontroversy ;). Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 02:29, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Reverts

I saw someone blocked for revert-warring reverting links from an article; no, I didn't check what they were, but figured he was removing valid links, and if not, someone who knew better would come along after me. I'll admit, I went a revert too far on that one, and I apologize. --Golbez (talk) 07:20, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
