[edit] List of maps

Hi Vardion. I really like some of the maps you have made that show one country highlighted, and also its context in the world such as this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:LocationArmenia.svg . It seems that most of these are no longer actually being used on Wikipedia, but I would like to use them myself. I can guess the URLs of many, but not all of them. Is there a list of them somewhere? thanks, Michael http://faganm.com/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.97.18.86 (talk) 21:27, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

(Since I'm not quite certain where to respond, I'll do so both here and at the IP talk page). The maps I think you're referring to, while based on something I made, have been modified and improved so much by other users that I'm not really the person to talk to about them, I'm afraid. In any case, I'm not personally aware of any list at present. Sorry I can't be more help. -- Vardion (talk) 01:27, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Auckland railway network

Hello Vardion - still always impressed at seeing the nice ferry map you made for Auckland. Any chance of you doing a railway line map? Appreciate that would be a good bit of work, but the en:Public transport in Auckland article would profit a lot from it. You could use this map to use as a reference, sparing you most of the research - and Google Earth will allow you to track the more exact routes, I guess.

Would be great. BTW - what program do you use to make these maps? Ingolfson (talk) 08:41, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Answered your latest comment on my page (don't know if you watchlist mine, that's one of the things I find a bit cumbersome about the current talk system) Ingolfson (talk) 06:59, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Willie Jackson (politician)

I see you have a history of working on the article Willie Jackson (politician). I am looking at it from the project Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles where it is one of the longest {{unreferenced}} tagged articles that does not meet at least the barest minimum of verifiability. It has been tagged and completely without references since June 2006. It would be extremely helpful if you had some references you could add to the article to help support its verifiability and notability. Thanks for any help you can give. [edit] Mana Wahine Te Ira Tangata

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mana Wahine Te Ira Tangata, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Mana Wahine Te Ira Tangata. [edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:NZDemocratsForSocialCredit.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:NZDemocratsForSocialCredit.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:18, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] References for Leader of the Opposition

Hi Vardion, I see that (back in 2004) you created the major substance of the page Leader of the Opposition (New Zealand) which I have just had to tag as unfereferenced. Could you please add your information sources as references? dramatic (talk) 14:05, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:99MPLogo.png

Thanks for uploading Image:99MPLogo.png. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:02, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:ACTNewZealandLogo.png}

Thank you for uploading Image:ACTNewZealandLogo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit] Population density map

In Image:NewZealandPopulationDensity.png, you say the colour scheme is according to existing colour schemes for such maps. Could you provide a key, so that each colour translates to a range of population densities? This would probably be best as part of the description of the image, not the image itself, so that Wikipedias in other languages could translate the key without having to create a modified image.-gadfium 05:21, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Great, thank you.-gadfium 06:34, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
