Vanisri (b. August 3rd, 1948), also known as Ratna Kumari or Vanisree or Vanishree, is a popular Telugu film heroine in 1960s to 1970s. Her portfolio also includes Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam films.

Vanisri was born as Ratna Kumari in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, India in 1948. Actor S V Ranga Rao gave her screen name Vanisri. Her first film was Marapurani Kadha. She gained attention with a supporting role in the sister role in Sukha Dukhalu, where the famous song "idi mallela velayani" was picturized on her. She became a heroine and held the top spot through most of the 1970s. She financed and starred in noted director Shyam Benegal's only Telugu film Anugraham (1977), co-starring Smita Patil. In the late 1970's, Vanisri left films to get married and have a son and a daughter, who is now a doctor.
Vanisri returned to films in the late 1980s in mother roles, such as the one in Attaku Yamudu-Ammayiki Mogudu (1989), which became a big hit.She also lately acted in hindi film Main Tere Pyar Mein Pagal directed by famous Telugu director K.Raghavendra Rao in 1999. She has now specialized in playing arrogant mothers-in-law or aunts. She has also acted in television serials. She also worked as politician in Congress party.
Vanisri had several super hit and silver jubilee ran movies to her credit such as Ganga Manga,Krishnaveni,Prem Nagar,Dasara Bullodu,Aaradhana,Jeevitha Chakram, Rangula Ratnam,Shri Krishna Tulabharam,Bhakta Kannappa,and Bobbili Raja etc,.These movies and their songs along with performance of Vanisri still live in the hearts of Telugu audience for good.
