Vanguard University of Southern California is located in Costa Mesa, California, USA on 55 Fair Drive, across the street from the Orange County Fairgrounds. Founded in 1920 as the Southern California Bible School, the undergraduate school became accredited in 1964, the graduate school in 1983. It was known as Southern California College until 1999 when it applied for, and was granted, university status, at which time it adopted its current name to avoid confusion with the University of Southern California[1].

Vanguard is a Christian Comprehensive University of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies and is owned by the Southern California District of the Assemblies of God.

Brent Kutzle, the bassist and cello player of the popular band OneRepublic, attended Vanguard University through his third year. He is still officially a student at the University, while it is not clear whether or not he will finish his degree.
