Vanessa Rousso (born February 5, 1983) is a law student at the University of Miami and a professional poker player.[1] Born in White Plains, New York, Rousso has dual citizenships with the United States and France.[2]
In 2001, Rousso graduated as valedictorian of her high school in Wellington, Florida. She graduated early from Duke University after two and a half years with a major in economics and a minor in political science in December 2003. Prior to entering law school she organized the The Celebrity Players Tour Florida, a celebrity charity golf tournament series.[2]
A poker player since the age of five, Rousso began serious poker tournament play during her summer break from law school. In her first year of playing, Rousso has multiple in the money tournament finishes, including seventh place at the 2006 World Poker Tour championship event and eighth place in the 2006 World Series of Poker $5000 no limit hold 'em shorthanded event. In September 2006 she won $285,450 at the $5000 no limit hold 'em event at the Borgata Open. She has made several appearances on the Poker After Dark television program.
She is currently engaged to Chad Brown. [3]
As of 2008, her tournament winnings exceed $950,000.[4]

Rousso is sponsored by the PokerStars online poker cardroom under the screenname LadyMaverick as part of their Team PokerStars.[5]. She placed originally 3rd in the 2007 World Championship of Online Poker Main Event, an online tournament run by PokerStars, winning $463,940.50, but due to the disqualification of TheV0id, ka$ino the original runner-up was named the winner and 3rd player LadyMaverick (Rousso) was named runner-up winning $700,782.50, a prize among the top online winnings ever.

Three handed, with blinds 125,000/250,000, ka$ino on the button with 9♠ 2♠ raises 380,000, the small blind TheV0id folds and is called by LadyMaverick (Rousso) in the big blind holding 3♣ 6♣ with 7,909,864 in chips, the flop brings 10♠ 3♦ 6♥ giving Rousso two pair, sixes and threes, ka$ino only held nine high, Rousso checks and ka$ino makes a continuation bet of 880,000 and is flat called by Rousso, the turn came the 7♠, Rousso trapping checks her two pair, ka$ino still with only nine high but now with a flush draw checks and takes a free card, the river brought the J♠ that completed ka$ino draw for a Jack high flush. Rousso then leadout with a bet of 2,000,000, ka$ino with the winning hand and the chip lead with over 36,000,000 in chips reraises all-in and was called by Rousso eliminating her in third place. Her opponent ka$ino was later eliminated holding A♣ K♦ after being out drawn by TheV0id holding K♠ Q♥ who made a King high straight.[6] Later TheV0id was disqualified resulting in everyone in the event moving up one place.[7]
