Vanessa James (born September 27, 1987 in Ontario) is a Canadian figure skater who currently competes internationally for Great Britain.
Born to a Bermudan father, enabling her to hold a British passport, she is a resident of the United States and coached by Karl Kurtz and Priscilla Hill.
The first black person to skate internationally for Great Britain, James was the 2006 British national champion and 2007 national silver medalist, but then converted to pairs skating. After a partnership with a British male skater wasn't working, she tried skating with French skater Yannick Bonheur, and is expected to skate for France in forthcoming competitions, subject to approval by national and international authorities.[1]
