Vanavasi is a panchayat town in Salem district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

As of 2001 India census[1], Vanavasi is a small village in Salem district Tamilnadu. This place is popular for the hand loom silk sarees,and the temples around. Among the diverse class of castes,Kannadikas are high in population.Vanavasi in Kannada is pronounced as 'Bhanavasi'
in old stories in the Ramayana the Ram, Laksh and sitha came vanavasam here.
