[edit] Questar Corporation

Welcome to Wikipedia. I took down your last link at Questar Corporation article because external links should contain further content ABOUT the subject of the article (in this case the Questar 3.5 inch telescope). Also since your user name matches the name at the website this may be a Conflict of interest. May I suggest that if you have a Questar 3.5 the one thing that article could use badly is a good picture of one. Your astophotographs would also make good additions to articles about the subject objects. Note that such images need to comply with Wikipedia's image use policy (making that version of the image free under the GNU Free Documentation License). 69.72.93.248 19:19, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Please don't re-add links unless you can put forward a justification in that article's TALK PAGE that meets WP:LINKS guidelines. Simply adding links that seem to promote a website is considered spamming. Halfblue 02:38, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image credit line on M13 and other Messier objects

The problem I was attempting to fix was "text squish" (Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Images). Putting the credit text all in line and adding a 400 pixel thumbnail image made the over all INFO box some 400-500 pixels wide. On a 640 x 480 monitor that meant
the
article
text
would
look
like
this

the
left
side.
(Gotta remember the people with 640x480 15" and 17" inch monitors) There were two ways to fix it. One was to remove the text and the other was to add the syntax BR to break the lines. The text seemed totally redundant (info box already has object name at the top) so I simply removed it and reduced the image size. I saw other images with credits identifying the instrument used/survey source.. not the creators of the image (although I did not look at all of them). It was an edit based on my opinion and it looks to me like all Messier object image INFO boxes should have their credits removed since that information appears on the IMAGE page its self. Your opinion is just as valid and we can always find some way to come to a consensus on this. Just remember when replacing images and labeling things that Wikipedia has a Conflict Of Interest policy.

BTW it is correct to contact me on my talk page... feel free to do it any time. The standard seems to be to reply back on the other person’s page (although some users keep all the talk on a topic on one page). Halfblue 02:39, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
