Valy Hedjasi, known as Valy, is an Afghan singer living in Germany. Although he was born in Mashhad,Iran, his parents are originally from Afghanistan and are ethnic Tajiks from Herat. Both of his parents were artists and musicians and influenced Valy's love for music. His family moved to Heidelberg, Germany, when Valy was still very young. Currently, he is living in Hamburg.
He started playing traditional instruments at the age of seven. Years later he was taught and influenced by the late musician Nasrat Parsa as well as Iranian singers and musicians. In addition, Valy has been influenced by Arabic music. Valy has gained recognition since his first two singles Delama Shekoondi and Bia Tu were released from his album After Love. His third single Qatanghani has received fame as well. His forthcoming single is Dokhtar-e Kabuli and his album After Love was released in October 2007.
The Valy Foundation collected over $2,000,000 in the Spring of 2008.[citation needed] Valy wants to help the poor and needy people of his country, Afghanistan with the money.He also encourages (Afghans outside of the country) to help the people of Afghanistan.
