Valvettithurai (Tamil: வல்வெட்டித்துறை) or VVT is a small coastal village on the northeast coast of the Jaffna Peninsula in Sri Lanka's north. Its original name is Valvettithurai (val-vet-ti-thu-rai). It was here the LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was born. The population is mainly hindu and some catholics. The main industry is farming and fishing.

The town is near the river called Thondaman Aru. This is named after Karunagaran Thondaman, a Chola minister who came to Sri Lanka to procure salt. The mouth of the river has the famous Skanda temple called Selva Sannithy built in the 16th century. It has a spiritual connection with the southern most holiest place in Sri Lanka called Kataragama Temple.
