Valtos Province is one of the five provinces of the prefecture Aetolia-Acarnania in Greece. It lies in the north-west part of the prefecture. Its capital is Amfilochia. The Acheloos River was the border of the province to Evrytania prefecture. Today the artificial lake 'Kremasta' separates the province from Evrytania. During Turkish occupation Valtos was the base for attacks against the tyrant. During the struggle for the liberation of Greece Valtos contributed many fighters and leaders to the Greek Revolution.
