Valorie Burton is a life coach and author. Her published works include Listen to Your Life, What’s Really Holding You Back?, Rich Minds, Rich Rewards, and Why Not You? 28 Days to Authentic Confidence, all published by divisions of Random House, Inc. Her fifth book, How Did I Get So Busy? (Broadway/Doubleday), will be released in December 2007. She is a columnist for CBN.com and BlackAmericaWeb.com, and is former co-host of the national daily television program, The Potter’s Touch with T.D. Jakes, which airs weekday mornings on TBN.

She was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to the Governor's Commission for Women and served a two-year term (2001–2003). She is a former Miss Black Texas USA, Miss Black USA "top 10" finalist, and a runner-up to Miss Texas.

She grew up in an Air Force family, living in Florida, West Germany and Colorado. She spent nearly nine years in Dallas, Texas, where she launched and ran a public relations firm. She and her husband married in 2003 and live in Annapolis, Maryland. She is a graduate of Florida State University and has a master's degree in journalism from Florida A&M University.
