Valmiro Lopes Rocha more commonly known as Valdo, (born April 23, 1981 in Villablino, León) is a football player from Spain. He plays midfielder for RCD Espanyol in La Liga.
Valdo was born in the region of Laciana in León where his parents had moved to, emigrating from Cape Verde to work in the coal mines. Valdo started his football career playing futsal for Pozuelo from Madrid until Real Madrid knocked on his door and signed him for their youth teams.
During the 2001-02 season, he debuted with Real's first team, playing in La Liga, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League games. Real Madrid went on to win the continental competition that year.
Valdo began the following season in the reserve team, Real Madrid B. During the winter break he was signed by CA Osasuna and remained in the squad for another 4 seasons. Espanyol signed him at the end of the 2006-07 season and Valdo played his first game for the Barcelona team against CF Peralada during the preseason.
