Valleymount (Irish: Moin an Bhealaigh or also An Chrois) is a small village in western County Wicklow, Ireland, near the neighbouring towns of Hollywood, Ballymore Eustace, Blessington and Lacken.

[edit] Buildings
Valleymount is the home to many unique and eyecatching buildings, the most notable being the church which is of the Mexican style. The design was created when immigrants adapted their own cultures style with that of the local area. Another building of note would be the Valleymount House, a stone building that was the town's one and only shop until it closed down in 2006. The last building of importance in Valleymount would be the the pub "The Star Inn".
[edit] The Star Inn
Established around 1836, the Star Inn has a past. It switched owners in 1947 to Edward O'Connor and his wife Julia. The current proprietor is Leo O'Connor the son of Edward who took over the business in 1985 and refurbished the historic premises in 1996.[1]
The Inn is aparrently named after the Morning Star that could be seen from the entrance door.[2]

- Intermediate Football Championship 1952-1964-1978-1989
- Junior Football Championship "A" 1963-1998
- Minor Football Championship 1951
- Junior Hurling Championship 1988
- Intermediate Hurling Championship 1989
Rugby player Brian Carney played Gaelic football for the Valleymount GAA club and won a junior championship medal in 1998 with the club. Seán Carney won the Trench Cup with the University of Ulster Coleraine in 1997 as well the British Universities Railway Cup in 1999 as player/ manager. A Senior B championship in New York with Derry GFC followed in 2005.[citation needed].

Valleymount is located at approximately 53° 6' 14N and 6° 33' 13W and it is at an average of 218 feet above sea level. It is serviced by the No.65 bus into Dublin. The town of Vallymount itself is on a land spit created by the flooding of the River Liffey in the late 1930's early 1940's at the Poulaphouca Dam.

There are numerous townlands in the area of Valleymount some of them are Ballynockan, The Tougher, Lockstown Upper, Lockstown Lower, Baltyboys, Rathballylong, Granamore etc.

The town of Valleymount houses the following businesses or associations: The Star Inn, Table.ie[4], St.Joseph's Primary School, The Catholic Church, Valleymount Cars[5]Valleymount GAA[6].
[edit] Films
A notable film which was filmed in the area of Valleymount would be Braveheart staring the Oscar winning actor Mel Gibson a consequence of which has created a road around the lake called Braveheart Drive. P.S. I Love You also had some of its scenes filmed in the Valleymount area.

Scandal fell upon the town of Valleymount when the priest Fr Thomas Naughton a now known child molester was reported in 1984 by an ex-garda to the then Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin, Donal Murray and was subsequently moved to the parish of Donnycarney
