[edit] Appearance

All of the Valkyrie mecha are heavily based on the Dougram mecha from Fang of the Sun Dougram, notable for an exposed cockpit, located on the head, complete with a visible canopy. The Valkyrie robots are heavily armored and usually armed with solid weaponry, rather than beam-based weapons. All of the Valkyrie series are given the beam coat and jammer abilities, (the former can block or reduce damage from beam projectiles, while the latter can avoid missiles). In its appearances, all of the protagonist Valkyries are given a red color scheme (if chosen to be the protagonist's starting machine).

The Valkyrie series are developed by the Z&R Company, using data gathered from the MHT-27 Fylgia hovertank. Their names are taken from certain valkyrie figures in Norse mythology.

The first known Valkyrie, named after Svanhild, is the first main mecha in Super Robot Wars 64, if the player chooses Selene Meneth as the main character.

At least three Svanhild units were produced by the Z&R Company. They're installed with a control system that can gather its pilot's control pattern and adapt to the data. However, during its field testing, an attack by resistance forces destroyed two of these Valkyries, with the last captured by them. The resistance force would be wiped out, cornering Selene into piloting the remaining Svanhild, after her unit was destroyed. The Svanhild remains her personal unit, until its control system was used to create the more powerful Valkyrie, the Rathgrith.

[edit] Type-28 RGC-28 Sigrun

Named after Sigrún, it is the rival mech to Selene Meneth's Svanhild, if the player chooses Selene as the main character in Super Robot Wars 64.

The Sigrun is almost identical to the Svanhild, but constructed in a way that it outclasses the Svanhild, in terms of performance and user control. The Sigrun also appears identical to the Svanhild, but given a different color scheme, although its base status are somewhat greater than its predecessor. The Sigrun was given to the ace pilot, Rish Griswel, also known as the Undead Man, in order to recover the remaining Svanhild unit from Selene.

Selene Meneth's upgraded machine, in Super Robot Wars 64, if the player chooses Selene as the main character. Unlike other Valkyrie models, the Rathgrith Custom is given flight capabilities and utilizes energy-based weapons as its standard armaments.

Developed by the Z&R Company, using data from the Svanhild and Sigrun, the Rathgrith features a back-mounted Armed Base unit, which houses various equipment, such as a flight booster, generator and weapons. Its development plan was abandoned by Z&R after a coup d'état by the OZ Faction. The Rathgrith's schematics were recovered by Karaba and the resistance force, finally completing the unit and transferring the Svanhild's control system into the Rathgrith, turning it into the Type-33Kai Rathgrith Custom ("Kai" is the Japanese Kanji character "". In English, it means "Modified"), and handing it to Selene for use.
