Valentin Plătăreanu (b. 1936, Romania) is an actor, director and drama teacher.
In Romania he was a renowned actor and Vice director of the "State Theatre Bucharest". From 1958 to 1980 he played more that 30 parts at the National Theatre Bucharest. In 1978-79 he directed Hernani, by Victor Hugo; Much Ado About Nothing, by William Shakespeare; and The Rivals, by Richard Brinsley Sheridan.
In 1983, Plătăreanu escaped from the Nicolae Ceauşescu regime, together with his wife, Doina, and his daughter, Alexandra Maria Lara, and settled in Germany. In 1992 he founded the Charlottenburg Drama School (Schauspielschule Charlottenburg) with his partner, Henner Oft.
