Valentin Iliev (Bulgarian: Валентин Илиев Иванов) (born August 11, 1980) is a footballer currently playing for Terek Grozny.

Iliev's father was goalkeeper for Bulgaria's national team.[citation needed] He is known thorught Bulgaria for scoring a historic goal which got CSKA Sofia a historic win over Liverpool in 2005 however it did not help them qualify for the UEFA Champions League group phase.

Iliev started his career in his home town Vratsa,where he played in the local team Botev Vratsa. In june 2001 he signed with ukrainian club Metalurg from Zaporizhzhya. But for 3 years Valentin participated only in 21 matches and scored 1 goal. From november 2004 Iliev played in bulgarian grand CSKA Sofia.For 6 months he joint captain on the team.From 2005 Iliev played and in Bulgaria national football team.

On Monday 7th January 2008, Sky Sports News reported that CSKA Sofia had agreed a £700k deal with Norwich City and was set to have a medical, however the deal is now "very unlikely" to go through because of work permit problems. [1]
