Valentin Aleksandrovich Chmerkovskiy was born in Odessa, Ukraine on March 24, 1986. He is son to Aleksandr (aka Sasha) and Larissa, and brother to professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Valentin is an amateur Latin dancer. He is currently partnered with Valeriya Kozharinova.
[edit] TV Appearances
Val has appeared on the hit TV show Dancing with the Stars on several occasions. He has helped to critique his brother Maks' routines with his celebrity partner Laila Ali. Also, in 2006, the two brothers had a dance off. Valentin and Valeriya were up against Maksim and Karina Smirnoff.
Chmerkovskiy can also be seen on PBS' America's Ballroom Challenge. He and his partner, Valeriya, can be found showcasing different dances there.

- Val and Val are currently the United States Amateur Latin Champions.
- One of the first couples from the United States to win a championship title at the prestigious Blackpool competition in England.
- 2006 champions from the Professional Latin competition at Philadelphia Festival Dancesport Championship
