[edit] History
[edit] 2002–2005
She first appeared in 2002 at her granddaughter Stephanie's (Carla Bonner) non-wedding to Marc Lambert (David Karakai). Susan Kennedy offered to let her stay at No. 28, but after her two poodles ran riot around the house, she moved in with Harold and Lou. This led to her falling for Harold, pulling stunts like accidentally getting lost on the way to the bathroom and ending up in his bed. Rosie Hoyland then mentioned something about Harold and Lou which made her think that Harold was gay, so she ordered him to kiss her.
She then returned to reveal to Lyn that she was her mother. During this visit, she went on numerous dates with Lou Carpenter though he ultimately chose Trixie over her. Then in 2004, she returned for an extended visit to help Lyn with Oscar when Joe Scully left town.
Her most notable storylines include being revealed as Lyn Scully's (Janet Andrewartha) biological mother, and marrying her teenage sweetheart, Charlie Cassidy (Cliff Ellen) on the same day as Steph's wedding to Max Hoyland (Stephen Lovatt). She then returned in early 2005 after her husband Charlie's death. After the court case and the family funeral, she departed Erinsborough and returned to Shelley Bay to live in her late husband's shack.
[edit] 2007–present
After two years in Shelley Bay, Valda returned, just as Steph turned down her new boyfriend's proposal to her. She had a talk with her and Steph later decided to accept the proposal. Valda also gave the newly-menopausal Susan some advice about coping with menopause.
As of 2008, Valda is working at Charlie's Bar. She attempted selling plus-size lingerie through the internet, but went broke and tried to pay off her debts through gambling. A fraudulent attempt to sell her car nearly saw her prosecuted by the police, but Toadie managed to destroy the relevant evidence. After an accident in Charlie's Bar, Valda decides to head on home for a long visit. On her departure, she wanted Lou to react on her feelings for him and him for her but was disappointed when he completely ignored her on the departure.
