Valathi,Valathy is a tiny village part of Melmalayanur constituency. And part of Villupuram district(erstwhile South Arcot) in Tamilnadu)
Valathi is surrounded by mountains and lakes.
Valathi gains importance because it is geographical location on the main road(SH4) which connects Vellore and Villupuram. And fairly bigger village which has surrounded by many small villages. Approximately 7 KM radius there are about 60000 thousand people are living. Many of this population are mainly dependent on agriculture and cattle.

As per latest survey the village has near about 1000 houses consists of five thousand people. Which consist of Tamil Jains, Christians, Scheduled Castes, Gounder and Muslims

As of now this Gram Panchayat was ruled by A Ravi Shankar aka Shankar who hails from same village. Last election he defeated his arch rival in near about 47 votes.

1. Jain Temple Jain temple is very famous. Devotee use to visit northern India to this temple.
2. Valathi Outreach Church Ministries which used to attract a lot of foreigners here. This is run by local church here in Valathy. It mainly focuses on good education to common public.
3. Devanur Fort which constructed during Raja Desingu period.
4. Melmalayanur Temple is near by 6 KM.
5. Gingee Fort is located 13 miles from here.
