Coordinates: 13°02′38″N 80°10′21″E / 13.04394, 80.17251 Valasaravakkam is a town in Thiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Hanuman Temple is a notable landmark here. It is a residential area with ample water supply, schools and colleges.

As of 2001 India census^[1], Valasaravakkam had a population of 30,265. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Valasaravakkam has an average literacy rate of 89%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 90%, and female literacy is 87%. In Valasaravakkam, 8% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Valasaravakkam is now part of the Chennai City. It has good schools like St.John's Matriculation Higher Secondary School, La Chateline and Velankanni Matriculation schools. Our Angel Matriculation Higher Secondary School, The other well known schools are: The Devi Academy and Holy Cross School. Real estate in Valasaravakkam is appreciating very high in the recent years and is close by to all major shopping locations and IT companies in Chennai.

Most recently, as of Feb 2008, the retail landscape here has expanded as in any upcoming suburb. Valasaravalkam now has Reliance Fresh, Spencer's Daily, More dot department stores. Creative Net is one of the Internet center in valasaravakkam. they are giving good service to their customers. One of the biggest mart in Chennai, Mega Mart has come up in Valasaravakkam. Although, general hardware and construction related outlets still have a major presence, indicating the ever expanding construction scene. Among major apartment builders, Purvankara has recently initiated a residential project at Valasaravalkam, called Purva Jade.

With a recently completed sewage project and moderately developed road infrastructure, it is a rather nice location to live.

To add up it is the only place in chennai where you can get sweet drinking water.probably you all would have seen a movie called VEEDU is based on valasarawakkam.
