[edit] Re: Mediabase 24/7

Mediabase is the chart that Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40 uses. It's now the "other" chart, seeing as R&R has merged with Billboard. You can find the Mediabase daily chart here: http://www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/AllAccess/Charts.asp?format=c1R&showtopn=500

[edit] Re:Contest

Thanks for editing that. I will hopefully still be holding the contest and only will if I have about 6 contestants.I also added this to the page:You will have two minutes to answer the question so I know you most likely didn't cheat and will all be asked different questions at different times. [edit] Shock Sites

I saw your comment about the Shock Site page needing to be expanded but no one is able to. Every bit of information that is added is repeatedly deleted by the same administrator over and over again. There is never a chance to bring the article up to standard. He originally voted to have the entire page deleted. Shock Sites like Meatspin need your help. Please see Category:Non-standard album infoboxes [1] for the correct types of albums in infoboxes. I believe that you are thinking of "Label" as independent, not the type. SkierRMH 21:59, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] My Worst Fear

Did you just post that thing about never hearing "My Worst Fear"?

O'Malley II 01:25, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Neither have I, I have only seen the video. I also thought you said that you never seen or heard of the video.

O'Malley II 23:22, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

What do you mean?

O'Malley II 04:44, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

No, not really.

[edit] Charts

Hello. I noticed that you reverted a bunch of edits I've made to country music pages. Please stop doing this. I removed the weeks at #1 from Jo Dee Messina because including the weeks violates WP:CHARTS. I would suggest you read that page before reverting any more of my edits. Note, also, that not once do they use number signs before any of the positions -- but if you want them to stay, that's fine.TenPoundHammer 20:44, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

By the way, If Artist B contributes to Artist A's song, there's nothing wrong with putting that song under both Artist A and Artist B. For instance, "If You See Him/If You See Her" is listed under both Brooks & Dunn and Reba McEntire. TenPoundHammer 20:51, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Albums

It's mostly a matter of personal preference, and partly an error correction, that made me switch around the writer names. Some names (e.g. "Cole Deggs") were spelled wrong, and at least one writer had "songwriter" listed as if it were his middle name. Also, I think "First Lastname" is easier to read than "Lastname, First", especially when there are several writers; in addition, "First Lastname" format almost always matches the way the writers are listed on the album liner notes. I would ask that you please not revert these changes. Thank you.TenPoundHammer 21:37, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] World History 101

I've added a note saying that the single doesn't appear to have been officially released, but some stations did play it. I know I heard it at least once. TenPoundHammer 04:35, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reflist question

I noticed that you went to all the trouble of changing the <div class="references-small"> style codes to {{Reflist|2}} type of codes. What is the difference?

Vala M 02:31, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Using {{reflist}} has some advanatage over <div class="references-small"><references/></div>
  • It's shorter
  • With {Reflist|2}}, the references are shown in 2 columns in Firefox, which reduces vertical scroll. But it doesn't work in IE.
  • If people decide to change the style one day, replacing the existing style class="references-small", then they only need to update the template, not every article that uses it. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 02:37, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
And nice name =) --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 02:39, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sugarland

Regarding my revert on Sugarland: I would suggest that you read Wikipedia:Ownership of articles. You can't change something back just because you think it looks ugly, or because you don't like the fact that country artists' Pop 100 or Hot Digital Songs peaks are listed. You need a stronger reason than "it looks ugly" or "I don't like it", should you decide to remove something. I'm putting the Pop 100 and Digital peaks back on Sugarland (band), since they are verifiable, encyclopedic data, and did not need to be removed (seeing as Pop 100 and Hot Digital songs are major, nationwide Billboard charts). I would also suggest discussing potential changes on a page's talk page before doing anything, from now on -- if you want to remove those columns again from that article, please discuss it, and wait for other people to respond. Ten Pound Hammer(((ActionsWords))) 23:05, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Singles listings

There is nothing wrong with listing major charts in the articles -- and Hot 100 and Pop 100 are all major Billboard charts. I would suggest reading WP:CHARTS. So what if Sugarland isn't pop -- they're charting on the Pop 100. Think of it this way -- Bon Jovi isn't a country group, yet they've charted twice so far on the country charts. Does this mean that their country peaks should be omitted? Absolutely not! Ten Pound Hammer(((ActionsWords))) 18:55, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Radio & Records

Radio & Records and Billboard merged last year, so the Radio & Records site now displays the exact Billboard charts -- I'm not jumping the gun. This page displays the full 60-space Billboard chart every week on Wednesday. Ten Pound Hammer(((ActionsWords))) 17:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Collin Raye

I don't know if you got an answer on this already or not, but yes, Collin Raye is still active -- he's just faded from the limelight since a.) he's on an independent label now, and b.) I've heard that he had a run in of sorts with some radio stations (I don't know the specifics). Ten Pound Hammer(((ActionsWords))) 19:14, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:City ship in space.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:City ship in space.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:42, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair Use Rationales

Just a quick note, the fair use rationales you're adding to various images aren't actually sufficient. Fair use rationale should include a reason for the image appearing in each and every article it appears in, and also needs to credit the copyright holder as well as the source. Also, 500x500 isn't really low resolution. These images appear much smaller in the album infobox so should really be uploaded much smaller. Thanks. Nick 14:20, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

And if you're going to use boilerplate, as you obviously did on Image:Me and my gang.jpg, please learn what belongs in the blanks and where they all are so you can fill them in. ~ BigrTex 21:38, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Steve Holy

There's nothing wrong with keeping the Hot 100 column for just two singles. I know you're against it, but please don't remove it again -- it's not harming anything. Furthermore, it's the norm for country artists to have Country and Hot 100 positions listed, even if they've only had two songs chart on the Hot 100. (If they've only had one Hot 100 entry, you can use a footnote instead -- see Daryle Singletary as an example.) Ten Pound Hammer(((Broken clamshellsOtter chirps))) 03:47, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Free images

Yeah, that's what they mean -- free images taken at a concert or something. See Tracy Lawrence as an example. Ten Pound Hammer(((Broken clamshellsOtter chirps))) 02:13, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't know -- but according to WP:FU, "copyrighted images that reasonably can be replaced by free images are not suitable for Wikipedia in any event". It would be pretty easy for someone to take a picture of Andy Griggs in concert, so they don't want a copyrighted image of him. Ten Pound Hammer(((Broken clamshellsOtter chirps))) 02:22, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pages on singles

It's okay to create a stub on a notable song. According to WP:MUSIC, a song is notable for inclusion if it appeared on a major chart, which "Size Matters" did (in fact, it appeared on two major charts). Just because a page is a stub doesn't mean it doesn't belong on Wikipedia -- according to WP:STUB, "Any registered editor may start a stub article. When you write a stub, bear in mind that it should contain enough information for other editors to expand upon it. The key is to provide adequate context.". Ten Pound Hammer(((Broken clamshellsOtter chirps))) 17:31, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rascal Flatts vandal

I've given the anon vandal another warning. If he keeps it up I'll take it to WP:AIV and see if they can block him; he seems to have stopped for now. Ten Pound Hammer(Broken clamshellsOtter chirpsReview?) 18:07, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Zero Point Module

Did you watch the referenced episode? Or even read the linked episode summary? Three ZPMs were recovered during the Asuran invasion. The third one was a main plot element in Echoes (Stargate Atlantis) --Pascal666 03:30, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Goof

An interview with one of the actors/writers/crew would be a good source, something to prove this is actually a goof. For all we know it's an intended thing, as silly as it sounds. The point is: we don't know. Matthew 16:51, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

You can't prove it definitively, it's more than likely it's a goof… but do you have a source to back the claim up? Without one it's purely guess work, and guess work by Wikipedians is not a reliable source. Please read up on the applicable Wikipedia policies/guidelines on sourcing. Matthew 20:43, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
You may be an expert, but this is an encyclopaedia with sourcing rules that are pretty much non-negotiable. If you can prove (with a source, for example Joseph's blog) then there's no reason you can't add it back, if you can't do that… well it shouldn't be added back as it's pure speculation on your part (I'm pretty sure you've been told guess work is a no no a few times). Matthew 21:42, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
I hate to jump into the middle of this unasked but Matthew is correct. This may be a goof, it may not, but either way we would need a citation to a reliable source in order to include it. Konman72 22:33, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia

You should be lucky I'm not deleting the sections verbatim. I should really do that, 98% of it is junk. I guess you have a case of "I only see what I want"-itis, because I can assure you that I'm not the only one cleaning up trivia. I'd suggest that you read WP:TRIVIA and WP:NOT, and remembering that Wikipedia is not a fansite should help. "Oh I find trivia so fun! It doesn't hurt anybody" are not very strong arguments (imo they do harm somebody, Wikipedia).

Can you tell me why you want trivia sections and why you can't write it in prose? Matthew 07:24, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

I didn't used to mind trivia myself (I've never like it), you are correct. But with recent developments and several hundred/thousand episode pages being purged it's important to clean these pages up as soon as possible. I don't know if you've noticed, but there's not many editors interested in cleaning up these pages. If you're interested in trivia and notes then you should try TV.com, there's a lot of it there, and that's not going to be deleted.

You may want to read WP:EPISODE, I personally don't agree with that guideline… but it is being used to soft-delete (redirect) pages. Matthew 13:39, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Were you "The_only" at TVTome? I believe that person was the editor for the SG-1 guide at TVTome. Matthew 14:01, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sodan

In answer to your revert, the Sodan may be notable in-universe, but they are completely non-notable in the real-world as outlined in WP:Notability (fiction) (note that the disputed-guideline-tag almost only refers to the current deletionist approach of the guideline, but the Sodan merge deleted nothing). If I took the Sodan article to AfD, the result would be a clear merge or delete, so I was bold in order to prevent an AfD. The reason for the merging of the many other articles is similar: They do not establish notability through significant coverage in reliable secondary sources, and I felt the merge was non-controversial. I have started merge discussions for other SG articles that I'd consider more controversial, and if you want, we can do the same for the Sodan. But I sincerly doubt that that would end in anything else than a merge. I won't revert your revert, but please let me know what you'd prefer instead. Thanks in advance. – sgeureka t•c 17:23, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

I believe the Sodan can be covered in the Jaffa article without losing anything in the merge, so I definately prefer that. Background explanation: The fiction notability subguideline was rewritten in the summer (I only became aware of it at that time) when the main WP:NOTABILITY guideline was rewritten to define notability as measured by significant coverage in reliable secondary sources. Most fiction articles however are solely sourced by the primary sources (e.g. episodes), and there was and still is much negative fuzz when deletion-minded wikipedians took/take it upon themselves to get rid of the too many "poor" fiction-related articles on wikipedia through AfD and outsider merge/redirect "threats" (which often end successfully). Being an SG-1 fan and a mergist, I feel I can prevent that by doing the merges properly myself without losing anything, or at least by showing outsiders that there is reasonable progress. In the meantime, I guess the Jaffa article is safe from deletion/merge threats for the next few months or possibly forever because it's easy to presume the existance of secondary sources for a main Alien group in a 200+ episodes show. Luckily for us, notability guidelines don't dictate what's included within an article. That means that although we lose a significant number of articles (mostly stubs) through merges, we lose almost no content, and I believe that's the right direction for now. Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction) (style guideline) can be considered later and is not as urgent. – sgeureka t•c 22:45, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
would you happen to know why the notability of fiction was re-written? - As far as I know, because of the rewrite of its mother guideline Wikipedia:Notability. Now, why that one was rewritten, I can only guess. I believe it has to do with trying to find a better objective approach to define notability, as in "if there are independent parties taking note of it, wikipedia believes it is noteworthy to have its own article". The fiction notability guideline additionally kind of makes an exception for listy types of articles without currently established notability. – sgeureka t•c 10:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dierks

I have nothing against you at all; rather, it's the fact that you've created album pages that fail WP:V. None of the sources you've provided me with meets WP:RS (a forum post, a user-submitted lyrics site, and a Google search that turned up more user-submitted lyrics sites). I'm sure that your contributions are in good faith, and I'm glad that you want to expand Wikipedia's scope, but please try to avoid creating an article unless you can verify its content in multiple reliable sources. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 03:54, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Oh, and thanks for informing me of Sugarland's album too -- I can't find any reliable sources for that one either. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 03:56, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm not doubting that you've heard them -- I've heard plenty of albums myself. Just saying "I've heard it" doesn't cut it, though. Again, please read Wikipedia:Reliable sources (if you haven't already) -- I'm nominating the albums for deletion because their existance can't be verified by any reliable third-party sources. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 04:03, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Centralized TV Episode Discussion

Over the past months, TV episodes have been reverted by (to name a couple) TTN, Eusebeus and others. No centralized discussion has taken place, so I'm asking everyone who has been involved in this issue to voice their opinions here in this centralized spot, be they pro or anti. Discussion is here [3]. --Maniwar (talk) 19:34, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] ZPM Addition

I added the line that the ZPM was used on board the Odyssey for approximately six months because it's a standard convention of shows (and has been confirmed in dialog within the show itself) that one season lasts one year. The atlantis expedition recovered the ZPMs at the halfway mark of the season, and the Unending episode was at the very end. That's approximately six months. Just telling you where I got the material from. Cheers, Jordan.Kreiger (talk) 18:36, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: User subpage deleted

User pages use a subpage structure (see Wikipedia:Subpages). The software only recognizes subpages as pages following a / in certain namespaces. (Which is why things like talk page archives are always /Archive_1, /Archive_2, etc.) Thus, your page wasn't in your user space, but was in fact floating in the user namespace. Your page has been restored here. Cheers. --MZMcBride (talk) 19:26, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
