There is definitely a bowling alley in Valley Park; I went there four days ago! It has been renamed from Megabowl to Tenpin, but it still exists. The Croydon Guardian article that was used as reference was dated 27th March 2007, and refers to the planned closure, so presumably those plans changed after the article was written (or it was just wrong from the start). This alley is listed on the official Tenpin website.

I've removed the link to Tenpin, because that's a general article about ten-pin bowling, not an article about the Tenpin chain in particular.
