[edit] Transfers

I have removed the list of recent transfers, as Wikipedia is not a news service. Maurimarzal 16:11, 9 September 2006 (GMT)

Marzal, you should notice that almost all teams articles have that section Jor70 13:18, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
I think you should move it back. The transfer list is useful and, furthermore, all the other teams (most of them) have it .Tris2000 12:30, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
As stated by Maurimarzal, Wikipedia is no news source. The transfers have been moved to Valencia CF season 2006-07. Poulsen 23:52, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nickname

Could someone explain origin of the nickname Los Ches . Too many Argentines? Jor70 13:18, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Nothing to do with Argentina. Che is a common term of address or exclamation in Valencia. As a nickname it is a lot more popular with the media than the fans. Xoto (goat in Valencian) is a derogatory nickname for Valencia fans used by fans of city rivals (in their minds at least) Levante UD.
I've removed Xotos as only the granotas in Levante use it, to wind us up. It's not right that it appears as one of our nicknames. It would be like saying "Blueshite" is a nickname for Everton. So I've removed it. I HAVE added "The Bats" though, as this is becoming seen more and more in the English language media and it's starting to stick. Tris2000 01:47, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
I beg to differ. Just because some ill-informed foreign media invent a nickname does not mean it exists. Bats/Murcielagos/Rat-Penats has never been used as nickname by Valencia fans or indeed anyone in Spain. If the Levante page has Sapos as a nickname (which it does) then the VCF one should have Xotos but I do not know the Wikipedia line on this matter.
I don't know who wrote the paragraph above as it wasn't signed, but this is rubbish. Even Valencia CF daily newspaper Superdeporte often calls them murciélagos. And here in the UK the fans call them the bats. I should know, I'm president of the 400+ strong Valencia fanclub in the UK!Tris2000 23:35, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] club colours

is there any information on the Valencia club colours, or more accurately - their history. Did they start wearing white at home after 1980 for example? And in the early 2000's, I noticed orange was a common colour for them.

[edit] Club logo missing

The club logo of this team is missing. Can someone please insert the logo as quickly as possible? --Siva1979Talk to me 15:56, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Who keeps changing the club logo?? The current one with the real looking bat is NOT the official club logo.

[edit] Revamped

Huge Valencia fan and i have added more depth to the history.

Who are you? Are you in the UK? The history is very good, by the way. Tris2000 10:13, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Numbers

The squad numbers section, despite claims in that section, does not show the same data as the offical Valencia site, and the La Liga site.

Silva, for example is set at 10 on here, but 9 on his own page, and 21 on both the official sites.

Arizimendi is 21 on here, and has this on the official Valencia site, but no number on the league site, but has 16 on the squad box at the bottom of his own page.

I guess this needs some clarification, which will only be done when their first game is played, or there is some sort of official announcement Malcuthrad 15:27, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Presumably the squad numbers will be confirmed following the game with IF Elfsborg next Tuesday... Signed, Silvilla.

[edit] Foreigners

As I know, Edu has Portuguese passport. It is listed in footballers with dual nationality page. If he hadn't that passport, how could he play in England before? Ario_ManUtd 23:45, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Names

The real name of the stadium is "Camp de Mestalla". The alias is written "Els Xes". An ten name is "Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna", not "Ciudad Deportiva..." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.83.83.195 (talk) 10:51, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Els Xes? Rubbish. I'm all for writing Camp de Mestalla in the Valencian language, but you don't see "Xes" anywhere. Look in a local sports paper, eg Superdeporte, and count out how often Xes are used. One of the very few times you see "Xe" written with an X is in the chant "xe que bo", but even so, Google throws up 2,030 references of "xe que bo" versus 6,160 of "che que bo". Some things I am all for writing in Valencian, but "Xe" is not one of them and the fans would tend to agree with that! Or else, how come most Penyes (supporters clubs) of Valencia have "che" in their name rather than "xe"?? In cases like these, one must go with the popular spelling, rather than try and use Valencian grammar to prove an unpopular point. Tris2000 10:08, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm a Valencia fan, and this is nonsense. It's Che. (Fadiga09 17:07, 28 September 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Cañizares, Albelda and Angulo

Please don't remove this players from the current squad, they are in the team at least until the end of this season. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.7.170.44 (talk) 23:03, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

why the people continue deleting this players from the current squad? please they are players of Valencia CF!!

Ramos10 (talk) 15:38, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

I will tell you why...Because they aren't in te Team —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.232.23.14 (talk) 21:31, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
So...? They are still part of the current squad. Xeron220 (talk) 17:58, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

please stop deleting this players please! look at the oficial web http://217.116.5.146/equipo/equipo.asp?Idioma=1& they are part of valencia cf

Ramos10 (talk) 10:10, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree, these players still are Valencia CF players, once they are transferred out of the club then we can alter.

[edit] Fairs Cup

I've combined them with the UEFA Cup results, it's a pre cursor tournament and their is no evidence for official or unofficial sources, it's not a UEFA sanctioned tournament but it doesn't make it unofficial, i didn't think this needed a mass debate, all i did was combine them with the UEFA Cup results, seeing as other Fairs Cup winners on Wikipedia have their articles collated together too. regarding the Fairs Cup (Fadiga09 (talk) 10:28, 6 May 2008 (UTC))

[edit] nationality

regarding Stephen Sunday.

As per many other football articles, where there is a player with dual nationality.

The team pages shows their adopted nationality. ie. Manchester United article shows Evra as French, Arsenal article shows Eduardo as Croatian - the article devoted to the player, not the team explains their original nationality, place of birth etc

I agree, he plays for Spain now. (Fadiga09 (talk) 09:47, 13 June 2008 (UTC))
