Vaga River

The Vaga River (Russian: Вага) is a river in the Vologda and Arkhangelsk Oblasts in Russia, a tributary of the Northern Dvina River. The length of the Vaga River is 575 km. The area of its basin is 44,800 sq km. The river freezes up in mid-November and stays under the ice until late April. Main tributaries of the Vaga River are the Kuloy, Ustya, and Vel. Most of the river is navigable during the high-water season. The towns of Velsk and Shenkursk are located on the Vaga River.
