Vadavalli is 11 km from Coimbatore Railway station, 8km from Gandhipuram, 23km from Coimbatore Airport.

As of 2001 India census[1], Vadavalli had a population of 44,700. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Vadavalli has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 74%. In Vadavalli, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Vadavalli is located at foothills of Maruthamalai which is one of the tourist spots in Tamilnadu and is surrounded by number of historical temples. Vadavalli has many renowned educational institutions like Bharathiar University and Government Law College.

There are many town buses from the central local bus stand located at Gandhipuram. TNSTC(Coimbatore) town buses such as 1, 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E, 70, 70A, 70B, 64, 46, S12 and S26 all pass through Vadavalli. 1C buses are available from Coimbatore Railway Station to Vadavalli every 5 minutes.
