Hi User:Vacco.

I knew your grandfather, Fred Vacco quite well. I worked for him at the Campus Restaurant in San Bernardino and we became good friends. I knew your mother, Carole Rose. Your grandfather was a great cook, a fine gentleman and a good friend to me, sort of a mentor at one time. I learned a lot about cooking from him. I moved from San Bernardino to Carpinteria and he visited with me several times before his death from cancer. I am in touch regularly with his other daughter, Justine and will visit with her in several weeks when I return to California for a visit. As far as I knew he was never in the mafia, although he had friends who were reputed to be, such as Joe Dippolito. Fred conducted legitimate businesses like the Campus Restaurant and the 123 Bar and to my knowledge had no business connections with gangsters.
